The Library In Color

Picture
Black History Month Window Display
The picture above is of a window/book display showcasing different black authors, black characters, or the historical black experience.  The pictures of books in the window are of the different books that we have available in the library at the middle school to celebrate black history month. The display was created by Mrs. Burns, Mrs. Buxbaum and our students helpers (Lilliana Stafford, Mercadies Fowler, Sydney Jones, and Addy Powers).  Everyone did a really good job putting it together and making it look nice and appealing!

Teacher Resources/Professional Section
The picture above is of our updated teacher resources section of the library.  It is located at the back of the library across from the Nonfiction section.  I have weeded a ton of material irrelevant to today's educational realm and have added some new titles, such as the one below, to the collection for teachers to have access to.  This section is strictly for staff and is meant to help you as a teacher become stronger at your profession.  Come down and check it out to see if there are any titles you would be interested in!  Also, if there are any titles that you would like to see us get please let us know!

Careers Section
We now have a careers standalone section in the library for our students dedicated to the numerous possible career pathways that they can choose to investigate.  It is located next to the Professional section and across from Nonfiction. Mrs. Burns is currently working on signage to make it easier to figure out where it is in the library.  This is a great (and growing!) section for our students to start exploring different careers they may be interested in.

A Face For picasso: a Memoir by ariel henley
Genre: Biography
2022 Schneider family book award for teens-honor book

I am ugly. There's a mathematical equation to prove it.
At only eight months old, identical twin sisters Ariel and Zan were diagnosed with Crouzon syndrome -- a rare condition where the bones in the head fuse prematurely. They were the first twins known to survive the disease.
Growing up, Ariel and her sister endured numerous appearance-altering procedures. Surgeons would break the bones in their heads and faces to make room for their growing organs. While the physical aspect of their condition was painful, it was nothing compared to the emotional toll of navigating life with a facial disfigurement.
Ariel explores beauty and identity in her young-adult memoir about resilience, sisterhood, and the strength it takes to put your life, and yourself, back together time and time again.
